Art Direction

To be honest, I'm not an illustrator by trade, so when I was asked to create this piece, I was reluctant. But in life we don't get that many opportunities to do truly meaningful things, and this was one I was happy to be outside of my comfort zone for.

The IRRA (Independent Running Retailers Association) is a marketing collective that helps independent running shops compete with the big box stores. They leverage smaller budgets by combining resources and taking on a more local focus for their materials.

In this case the idea was to encourage runners across the country to get out and run on the day of the Boston Marathon to celebrate the lives lost during the tragedy two years before. We wanted to keep the vibe light and fun, with a focus on the course of the marathon in Boston and some of the landmarks one sees along the way.
